Please join the Friends of Fine Arts and the DGN Jazz Bands in Welcoming the Herrick Jr High Jazz Band, the Westview Hill Jr. High Jazz Band and the Jefferson Jr. High Jazz Band tonight at The DGN Jazz Cafe!

Tonight will be a fun evening of great Jazz Music performed by our current and future DGN Jazz Band Members!

The Music Starts at 6pm in the DGN Cafeteria, and in the words of a Famous Chicago Jazz Musician, Herbie Hancock:

"It Pulled Me like a Magnet, Jazz did, because it was a way that I could Express Myself"

Express Yourself tonight by supporting the Jazz Bands at DGN!

Do you want to feel like a Hero this year to over 950 Students at Downers Grove North?  You can, by becoming a Contributing Member to the FOFA!  By donating to the FOFA you are directly supporting the many Fine Arts Students at DGN!  You as a Contributing Member can see the achievements that you have helped make happen like the Mosaic Concert, the Visual Arts Showcase, the Jazz Cafe coming up in January!

Check book Orders Due on Monday December 4th!

Less than a week left to order your Gift Checkbooks!  Delivery is just in time for the holidays, these checkbooks will make great holiday gifts and stocking stuffers!  The book contains 30 gift-checks that work like cash at great local restaurants and businesses.   At a cost of only $30, this checkbook pays for itself!  A few places to consider visiting over the holidays and use your Gift Checks are:  The Country House, Tivoli Bowl, Pinstripes, Carlucci's, SportClips, and Culvers! 

                3     Things You Should Know:

 

1)    Sale runs from Friday, November 17th to Monday       December  4th

2)    Payment is due when the order is placed.  Checks should be payable to DGN Friends of Fine Arts.  Make sure the student's ID# is on the order form and all checks. No cash accepted -  if you receive cash from purchasers, please combine and write a check made payable to DGN Friends of Fine Arts.

Gift Checkbooks are the Perfect Stocking Stuffers!

Dear Fine Arts Students & Families:

Back by popular demand, Downers Grove North Friends of Fine Arts is excited to launch one of our most popular fundraisers, the Gift Checkbooks!  Just in time for the holidays, these checkbooks will make great holiday gifts and stocking stuffers!  The book contains 30 gift-checks that work like cash at great local restaurants and businesses.  With the majority of the checks ranging in value from $10 up to $119, the total value of the 30 gift-checks is over $480!  At a cost of only $30, this checkbook pays for itself with the use of just 2-3 checks!  A few highlights:  $10 Country House; $10 Tivoli Bowl; $25 Pinstripes; $20 Carlucci's; $26 SportClips, $119 Spenga  and $5 Culvers.

Fundraiser Highlights

• Fundraiser forms were distributed to students on Friday, November 1

Participation Raffle

• Every student who sells just ONE checkbook will will entered into a raffle to win one of five $25 gift cards to the student's choice of Starbucks; Chipotle; AMC Theater; or Target. 
• Students who sell more than $150, will have their name entered into the raffle a second time
• 5 sellers will be chosen at the end of the fundraiser

The Downers Grove North Friends of Fine Arts (FOFA) is dedicated to providing financial support to both Music and Visual Art programs at North High School.  

We need YOUR help to reach the goal, allowing our students to excel in their Fine Arts education.

Please give strong consideration to participating in this year's Checkbook Fundraiser.  

If all of the checkbooks are sold, the sales will generate over $6,000 to support Fine Arts Programs at North High!

Last Few Days for Fannie May Candy Sales!

The Fannie May Candy Sale deadline is fast approaching!  The turn in date for the sale is November 16, 2017, by 3:20 pm to the Fine Arts Office, November 16th is this Thursday!  

A box of Chocolate or a Fannie May gift card would brighten someone's day and let them know you care.  That purchase also supports the FOFA!

Please read the packet your student received and fill it out completely per the instructions.  Checks made payable to DGN Friends of Fine Arts are acceptable, please do NOT send in cash.  Candy will be delivered the week of December 4th.

DGN’s AP Computer Art Student Dean Darhussein has made the top 10 entries in the annual Illinois Tollway Map Contest!

More than 120 students from 25 schools throughout the region, from Chicago to Rockford, participated in the art contest.

Online voting will determine the 4 prize-winning finalists.

Did You Know..BEHIND THE DGN FINE ARTS MARK

Appearing for the first time in 2015-2016, the Fine Arts Department logo and identity represent the unified music and visual arts disciplines at Downers Grove North High School, as well as the Friends of Fine Arts parents' organization.

The mark builds upon the District 99 shield, a symbol  common to both Downers Grove high schools, forming a field of solid DGN Purple and expressing community values.

Within the field, a single point of light represents the intuitive spark of an idea, generating the desire to create. The idea may manifest into many artistic directions and travel as far as passion will drive it.

Vectors emanate from the point, evoking a spotlight on students' accomplishments. They extend beyond the confines of the field to suggest a lifelong journey in the arts.

The mark was designed pro bono by Scott Theisen, DGN parent and a creative director at renowned Chicago design firm VSA Partners.

Welcome to FOFA - Looking For Additional Volunteers!

Welcome to the New Year and to the DGN Friends of Fine Arts!  We will be using this Blogspot instead of a newsletter to share information. Look for news and announcements on this site.  To begin, there are several open positions on the board for the 2017-2018 school year.  If you are interested in getting involved, take a look at this list and let us know how you would like to help.  They are:

Spiritwear Co-Chair

~ Assist and Work with other Spiritwear Co-Chair to run the Spiritwear Program. 

Band Banquet Co-Chair

~ Work with the other Co-Chair to organize and arrange details of the Spring Band banquet.

Orchestra Hospitality Co-Chair 

~ Arrange for and coordinate refreshments and decorations for orchestra concerts at North and for special events for students and parents.

Visual Arts Hospitality Committee

~ Arrange for and coordinate refreshments and decorations at art shows and special events for students and parents.

Band Banquet Raffle Co-Chair

~ Organize and coordinate raffle donations from community members and band families.

~ Set up and run the raffle at the band banquet.

~ Both positions are open.

Orchestra Banquet Raffle Co-Chair

~ Organize and coordinate raffle donations from community members and orchestra families.

~ Set up and run raffle at the orchestra banquet.
