Who We Are! What We Do!

The aim of DGN Friends of Fine Arts is to support and enhance the arts education of the over 1,200 Music, Theatre and Visual Art students at Downers Grove North High School. Through the dedicated efforts of student and parent volunteers, Fine Arts staff, and supporters, we were able to do the following last year:
  • Purchase special equipment that benefits students in Fine Arts programs at North High.
  • Provided hospitality at Music concerts, Theatre productions and Visual Art Exhibitions.
  • Chaperone music, theatre and visual art related field trips.
  • Organize end-of-the-year award ceremonies for Fine Arts programs.
  • Fit robes for all of the Choir students.
  • Fit marching band uniforms for about 200 students.
  • Annually provide $8,000 + in Summer Study Grants to 20+ students attending arts enrichment camps.
  • Annually provide College Scholarships for students pursuing the arts as a major, or pursuing the arts as an advocation.
  • And so much more!

A Note About Fundraising

Fundraising profits from DGN Friends of Fine Arts fundraisers are used to support arts-related expenses for our students. The money raised in our DGN Friends of Fine Arts fundraisers supports various sponsored programs and events.  If a large enough balance accumulates over time, funds are used to purchase equipment on the Fine Arts Faculty “wish list” which the school district cannot afford.  For example, the DGN Friends of Fine Arts was able to gift the school two professional upright pianos, and several years ago they purchased a professional quality soundproof practice room. The DGN Friends of Fine Arts also purchased multiple visual art display cases and display boards.
