It's October and That Means It's Fannie May Time!

The DGN Friends of Fine Arts are happy to announce that the DGN Friends of Fine Arts 2020 Fannie May Candy Fundraiser and celebrate its 100th Anniversary! As the weather cools and the leaves begin to turn, we know the holidays are just around the corner. While many of our holiday celebrations will look different this year, there is one holiday tradition that we can still enjoy – delicious Fannie May chocolates! Let us cherish these delicious, premium, fine chocolates made since past century!

The program officially kicked off this week and will run through Wednesday, October 28th.

LET US CELEBRATE 100th YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF FANNIE MAY TOGETHER!

Fine Arts students and their families should have already received an email regarding the sale with links to the Fannie May Holiday Catalog and the site to place your order. You can also find them HERE and HERE.

The Fannie May Candy sales program is an important fundraising revenue stream for DGN Fine Arts (along with Spirit Wear sales and the Spring Plant Sale) and it is a vital component in reaching our
annual goal of $50,000 to support our Fine Arts students and programs. If every Fine Arts student at DGN sold or purchased one box of Pixies, more than $4,000 would be earned toward that targeted number!

It's really GRAND! New piano finds home at DGN

Thanks to the wonderful financial support of the DGN Friends of Fine Arts, and the District 99 Board of Education, a beautiful new grand piano made its way into Pohlmann Hall at North High today!

"Words could not express our excitement as we watched a brand new piano roll into our DGN Choir Room," said music faculty member Ms. Beth O'Riordan. "It will provide such high quality musical support to our students for many, many years to come. We are so grateful to have amazing support from the DGN Friends of Fine Arts and our District 99 Administration!"

"The new piano has a touch that is incredibly responsive," added Dr. Frank Piekarz. "This instrument will allow us to play accompaniments and vocal parts with greater clarity and sensitivity. It also sounds fantastic in the room - it's perfectly suited given our choir room's size and acoustical treatments."

Spiritwear store is open...

Obviously the beginning of the school year has not been what we were hoping for, but one thing hasn’t changed, and that is DGN Fine Arts Spirit Wear! Have you been waiting to plant a CHOIR yard sign in your lawn? Are you counting down the minutes until you can wear your DGN | THEATRE t-shirt? Did you miss the awesome cookbook on sale this summer and you are hoping you can still have one to start cooking up some delicious meals, courtesy of your fellow Fine Arts families? Well, we have what you need!

Please check out the link below, for t-shirts, yard signs, and a wonderful cookbook. We WILL have a much more extensive offering of spirit wear within a week, courtesy of Deb’s Embroidery, a local business that has wonderful quality items for us. Deb is still tweaking the store to make sure it’s everything we want it to be, so stay tuned. We’ll get it out to you as soon as we can!

In the meantime, here’s the site you’ve been waiting for: https://dgn-friends-of-fine-arts.square.site

If you’re wondering how you will get your items, here’s the best part — we deliver! Once you order, we will be in touch with delivery times and to get your address. Please ignore all the messages on the website that say your items will be available for pickup — there is no pickup. We’ll bring it to you, we promise!

Welcome to 2020-21 school year and Thank you to all the contributing and volunteering FOFA Members

WELCOME to DGN 2020-21 School Year! With the end of last year being cut short, and many events not being held, this is just a quick post to pass on an overdue THANK YOU to all of our DGN FOFA contributing members over the past 2019-20 school year. Thank you for their generous donations to the DGN Fine Arts programs! We also would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who put forth their precious time either being a board member, a committee chair or pitching in to help volunteer for all the different Fine Arts events.

Every year DGN Friends of  Fine Arts sets a financial fundraising goal for the year. We achieve that goal through fundraising and donations to our Contributing Members Fund. Past years Contributing member's helped fund activities across ALL disciplines.

DGN Friends of Fine Arts appreciates each and every one for the continuing generosity in helping make DGN Fine Arts the amazing program that it is! Lastly we would like to extend our thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who help our events run smooth by generously donating their time and energy. THANK YOU!!!

What's Cooking in YOUR Kitchen?

DGN Friends of Fine Arts wants to know! In fact, DGN FOFA wants you to be a part of a very special project. We are creating a community cookbook: Comfort and Joy: Recipes for Quarantine and Other Times at Home, and YOU can be a featured culinary contributor!

We hope that it will serve as a memory of the best parts of Quarantine 2020 – what we did at home, e-learning and what we created in our kitchens! This cookbook will serve to begin raising funds for the future needs of our students and the Fine Arts Department while also being a remembrance of this unusual time. It will remind us years from now not only who was a part of our Fine Arts Community, but what we did and what we cooked to bring comfort and joy to our homes.

Our Fine Arts Teachers are helping by sending details of what has gone on during e-learning and collecting art to submit for our book. Please take 10 minutes today (Or by Friday May 15th) and be a part of this unique and special effort! Share one or more recipes and complete our survey of activities at home - individually or as a family unit. It’s easy, just follow these steps!

  1. Log onto CookbookFundraiser.com here
  2. In the upper right corner, you will find an orange square that says "Cookbook Login" - click on this.
  3. Fill in your name as you would like to see it printed with your recipe; add your email address and use Login: DGNFOFA and Password: cooking66
  4. You will be first asked a few questions from drop boxes. Next you can enter the recipe(s).
  5. Take our quick Google Survey and participate in our Top Ten lists here.
Thank you in in advance for your contributions! We can’t wait to Try Everything (see what we did there?) - the old favorites and the new favorites.

Feel free to contact our committee members with questions or suggestions:
